The most eligible Nepali bachelor, isn’t he? Suave, sensitive, and sizzling!
Pukar has come quite some way since his modeling debut with cybersansar in 2005. He has attained a M.Sc. and is about to sport a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Cornell University (Ithaca, New York) later this November. 3 patent applications and 6 papers in process. And, about 3 years for a Masters and Ph.D. is quite a feat! Just before visiting Nepal two months ago, laboratory tests verified that his wireless chip, he designed at a research lab at Intel Corporation (Portland, had world’s best figure of merit (yes, literally!). And, don’t forget to savor his performance in Alok Nembhang’s upcoming music videos. Kudos!
Academics aside, Pukar has been deeply involved with Nepali community in the US. For the last four years, he has been organizing youth forums at the ANA conventions. Last year’s forum was on ‘Opportunities in Nepal and North Americas.” For this year’s convention in LA, the topic is ‘Nepal Ko Pul,’ where the panelists will discuss the opportunities in Nepal and possibilities of connecting Nepal and the North Americas in different career realms. He has also emceed cultural programs in some of these conventions. Just last year, he put together ‘Namaste,’ a magazine for the Portland, Oregon community. Stay tuned for more of his work in the global Nepal section of E-Nasha.
Pukar enjoys depth, in conversations and in actions. His 2-month stay in Nepal has awakened him more about the growing need for NRNs and especially the youth to get more involved in the ambient social, cultural and political unrest. “Challenges and changes are a must. Furthermore, each Nepali,” he stresses, “has to bear the burden; responsibilities and rights need to walk arm-in-arm.”
“How do you feel about your popularity?” He remarks, “It makes me feel more responsible and invigorates me towards my societal commitments.”
