From "Pranil"
to "Pranill Timilsena", from G.P to a solo artist, and
with a totally different look and a hit record to go, Pranill Timilsena
is here to bring himself back with a bang. In an exclusive conversation
with CyberNepal, Pranill talks about his music, his recently released
album, his personal life and his experiences.
Tell us about May
18
May 18th is a melodious album. Melody ranges from romantic to tragedy.
I've worked with various artists for this album and it's working
well.
Are you satisfied
with it? How much have you expected?
Yes, of course! I'm totally satisfied. My fans love it. A couple
of songs have been quite popular. That's all I'd wanted. I'm happy.
Sales wise also it's been a successful album.
Tell
us about the involvement of other artists in the album.
In this album I've worked with Nabin K. Bhattarai, Anil Singh, DA69
and others.
Nabin and I are good friends and from a very long time we were planning
to make out a good song together. About Anil Singh, I'd always wanted
a voice like his. even before he'd started his career. So I felt
that his voice was the only option for my song. And for the rap,
I chose DA69.I have selected the singers according to the nature
of the songs.
What is the ideal situation for
the composition?
Actually it depends upon my mood. It's
generally night time that I get to compose. I need a peaceful environment
for that. Mostly, I give the finishing touch to the music whenever
I'm free.
What was the biggest challenge while working on the record?
I didn't really have a challenge. I just
sat down and started making the album. The concept was already on
my mind and I was prepared. There were some problems during the
making but I think those were minor and common to all.
It's
been a while since you and "Girish" split up. What made
you guys do that?
Girish and I had a lot of communication gap. We had to go out for
some concerts together but it wasn't always possible for both of
us to give time. So, it's just because we couldn't give time to
each other .There's no any other reason. Even now when I need him,
he's there for me and so am I.
What's
the reason behind your new appearance?
It's always important for an artist to look different. This makes
him distinct and noticeable to people even when you're not performing.
So, it's all about the appearance which is important to create your
image among the audience.
So
how are things on a more personal level? Do
you have any girlfriend?
My life's as usual, smoothly rolling. I'm practical and that's how
I get things done.
We're three children in the family with my parents and a step mom.
So, things are like
that. And yes! i don't have any girlfriend. (Sounds too good to
be true :-))
What
is music to you?
For me music is the sharing of feelings. I sing with feelings and
that makes a song natural. People say that I have a different style
which is touchy and melodious.Well, it's surprising that I don't
realize how I sing!(he smiles)
What qualities do
you think that a singer should possess?
I think it's very much necessary for a singer to be a good lyricist
and a composer himself. Most important thing is the composition
and the music knowledge that a singer must
have. Otherwise, it's like being handicapped.
So,
how is Pranill as a singer?
Well, I think I should call myself a lyricist and a composer more
than being a singer…. My singing qualities are not much polished
yet because I cannot give much time to regular practice.
Your favorite Nepali music artists
Nabin K. Bhattarai, Anil Singh, Nima Rumba and many others.
Ok, Let’s wrap this up. Tell us something
about your recent days.
I'm getting mails, letters from my fans. The demand for the songs
has increased. Now that the videos are available at Cyber Nepal,
I've stated getting calls from people asking for the copies of the
record. I've also been offered for further projects from different
music companies. It's cool.
