-By Preity Acharya

“Udeashya K Lenu Cha Udi Chandra Chunu Cha...”
Yes! This is their dictum that inspires them to create beautiful songs. ‘Hidne Manche Ladchha’ was their hit record and now they're on the top of the Nepali rock list. They're as hard as rock! Yes, they're the Shadows.
CyberSansar gets exclusive with the band where they talk about the band and their music.

Tell us about the band.
The band was formed 9 years ago. We're childhood friends .We started to play together and came out with an album in 2058. Now we're 6 of us in the band namely, Prashant, Swapnil, Prakash, Amit, Bikash and Rupesh

How were you influenced to rock music?
Rock is the best way to express anger and passion. We got sick of pop music so rock influenced Shadows. It's because we wanted to bring some difference in Nepali music. We wanted to create revolution in nepali music so we tried rock with the help of western music but with nepali language.

How is "Hidne Manche Ladchha" doing commercially?
It's doing very good. We worked very hard for this project. We tried not to leave any corner from recording to the promotion. Now our videos and profiles are also available at CyberSansar. So, it's doing good compared to our last projects.

You had your singer changing in the band. Did it affect the shadows' musical flavour?
No it didn't as we got a chance to play with a new guy who's talented as well as hard working. We think he's got the best vocal we needed for our music.

Swapnil, how is it working with the shadows?
It's a great opportunity to work with them. I liked their music. I was stunned when the manager offered me to work with them. I went for the audition. I have a classical base so it was easy for me to do any kind of music. I practiced a lot for that. I'm happy to be a part of shadows.

Your songs always have a realistic approach. What does you have to say regarding this?
We want people to be aware of universal truth and want our love to reach to the people like our love for music, nature and religion. People only talk about girls in their songs. We talk about something' else that's the only difference! But our songs aren't regarded as love songs.
About the video it's directed by Pooja Gurung and we're happy it contains our same realistic flavour, it's got a good story.

When you play live, do you change the arrangements of the songs around a bit?
Well, it depends upon the situation, crowd support, and sound systems and upon the overall mood. We cannot exactly say no! We don't, we do, but it depends. You know!

What are the best reviews you've heard about yourself?
Smiles….hmm... Band with an attitude...as hard as rock! The hell walkers

Any message you want to reach to people?
Peace in Nepal, we want it back! N'... keep listening to the Shadows.
